Listen to your friends. Lately, friends of mine have been giving me lots of advice. On various things. But mainly how to behave as an almost-30-something-single-gal. The end result has been that my self-confidence has gone through the roof. Hopefully not quite to the point of arrogance. But it’s left me feeling pretty good about [...]

If you feel sad that something has finished, it’s probably a sign that you should actually carry on. I am not talking about relationships here (note Yanni, before you start ‘encouraging’ me again. ). Rather, I’m talking about hobbies. With running, for example, I feel kind of like I’m letting myself down when I stop [...]

Learning Greek may leave you wanting to visit Greece. Perhaps not right now, as Yanni has noted. But as my term of Greek lessons comes to a close and we’ve been talking about souvlaki and summer festivals and islands and ‘κάνουν μπάφο’, I have missed the old Ellada. But apart from wanting to jump on [...]

Because I am not a geek, I don’t usually 1)Watch You Tube videos or 2)Blog about them. But Kathy sent me this and I thought it might strike a chord with any of my dear friends who’ve had the pleasure. Λοιπόν, παιδία… Current Mood:

So I am back in England. Some goodbyes were said and some weren’t. My friends know the sad bits of the story so not much point in repeating them here. Because this is a positive post. And it’s positive because, until the last hours of my trip, it was fannytastic. I got to spend time [...]

If you’re a good musician, all will be forgiven. I’m really not willing to spend too much blog time on the issue of Michael Jackson ‘dying‘ killing himself/faking his own death. But it does make me more than a bit angry that someone who once dangled a baby off a balcony and was very possibly [...]

Careful where you place the stress when speaking Greek. ΠαÏάδηγμα: “θα παίζουμε ταβλί;” could be misheard as “Θα παίζουμε καβλί;” if one is not careful. And speaking of Greek oral things, my exam went just fine on Monday. Fortunately, the only person listening to the τάβλι incident was Him last night rather than the external [...]

If walking on Greek pavements, tread carefully. 1st day in Athens yesterday and I thought I’d start my trip by taking it very literally and falling arse over tit somewhere near the centre. So the only souvenirs I shall be bringing home this time are a whopping great bruise on my arm and two grazed [...]

Every language has some words that are just obsolete. Words like ‘pardon’ in English, which has generally been replaced with ‘Eh?’ or ‘What?’ or simply a grunt. And a prime example I learned about in Greek class last night: A verb meaning ‘I am going to make it on time.’ No wonder I had never [...]

There haven’t been any blog updates from me this week because I haven’t done anything exciting. Been going to work, coming home, have made some cakes or have been running or have done some work or read some journal articles. Gone to bed. Not really blog-worthy. But today, today, I have a rant. Oh yeas. [...]
